| Background: On March 22, 2004,
IMPACT, in cooperation with Farming and the Environment, hosted
a conference that brought together Washington farmers and environmentalists
around a common goal of finding mechanisms to simultaneously
encourage farmers to engage in stewardship activities while
providing financial rewards. A number of IMPACT faculty were
present at the conference. |
| Next Steps: The group is still
in the process of brainstorming the next steps. One direction
the group may take is to explore funding for a major research
project on the issue of stewardship and the environment. |
